He sighed under his breath, taking in the past sixty seconds of conversation he'd just had with his first officer. Trip and Lieutenant Reed were the only other two people he'd think would know specifics on the incidents... Well, Malcolm, at least. He was the head of security around here, anyways.
Archer looked away for a quick moment, muttering, "Damn," under his breath. The first two words that came to mind were sabotage and mutiny, but he stopped himself before voicing that thought. Still, the possibility hung over his head like a storm cloud.
After a moment, he started towards the door and made a gesture for T'Pol to follow. "I need to speak with Malcolm; I don't know who's behind this or how far they've gotten into the database. This could be... a lot worse than we think. He is on the bridge, I assume?"

"Yes." As usual, T'Pol's answer was short and to the point. She didn't believe in wasting words, at least under normal circumstances.
"Captain," she added after a moment of thought, "I would suggest that, should you undertake some sort of search for the culprit, it should be done quietly. If someone should realize that they are suspected, we may lose our chance of discovering who is behind these alterations." She inclined her head slightly, following him to the door.

He paused a moment to look back at her. The captain's chin lifted slightly before giving her a quick, grim smile. "Yes, of course," he agreed, continuing his brisk walk down to the bridge. "An... important observation, Sub-commander." He would have probably have thought of that himself, but Jonathan had to admit she was a pretty adequate officer. He'd had his doubts about her, even some pretty strong ill feelings, but now... Well, at least there was a level of trust between them -- maybe even respect.
The thoughts were pushed away as he approached the door to the bridge. It slid open with a quiet whoosh, and he stopped in the doorway. After locating Lt. Reed, he headed towards the Tactical Station and cleared his throat; a subtle announcement in case the lieutenant hadn't noticed him enter already. Keeping his voice somewhat low, he stated, "T'Pol says that some files have been... deleted. I noticed things out of place in the database, as well. Can you tell me anything specific?"

Lieutenant Reed looked up, face showing the hints of mild amusement and slight annoyance that seemed to be eternally displayed. He gave a slight nod as Archer spoke, and paused, thinking, before he replied. "Well, I din't think I can tell you much more than the Subcommander already has, Captain. It's-" Reed's voice was clipped, now, and he paused again, seeming to decide between two ways to word his sentence.
"Sir, it doesn't seem to be anything much. And for that reason, I can't- I can't solve this problem. All I-we can do, is wait for something more to happen, as unsatisfying as that sounds. Either that, or take a great risk in assuming that we have a grasp on the situation." The Lieutenant sounded unsatisfied, and now for the first time glanced up to meet his captain's eyes. A tight-lipped, insincere, smile had forced its way onto Reed's face, posing a great contrast to Archer's near-eternal frown. "I'm sorry, Captain." The younger man seemed to be experiencing some sort of pain because of having to spit out those words.
In the pregnant silence that followed, Reed looked away again, face seeming a bit haunted- the cause of which seemed to be apparent. "With your permission, sir, I'm assigning additional details to the Armoury. Just in case the worst happens." Mentally, the Lieutenant amended his statement. No, the worst wouldn't be invasion. For Archer, it would be mutiny. Some sadistic part inside of him almost caused a very out-of-character smile to form on his face as he waited for his Captain or T'pol to reply.

T'Pol looked at Reed carefully before she spoke. He seemed highly agitated about the problem, and was not making direct eye contact with the captain for more than a few moments.
"I would expect that steps will be taken, Lieutenant, to ensure that your view of the worst will not happen," the Vulcan officer told him quietly. "We are in a difficult position in light of the situation. This is clearly not any sort of outside threat that we can simply engage with weapons systems. " She stopped for a second to let that sink in. "Either there is an intruder on board who has managed to evade our sensors, or the alterations are being caused by one of our own crew members."
Now T'Pol turned to Archer, knowing that this conclusion would not be a pleasant one for him to hear. Neither option was appealing in the least, but the second would be considered, at least by the Captain, to be a higher offense.
