((All right, this is my Roleplay… Intro… demonstration thing… for Jonathan Archer. It’s the byproduct of too many hours on Memory-Alpha and extensive research on him. Took me forever to come up with something decent, but hopefully this is up to par!
If it's too short, I can add more... Wasn't sure what to write!))
The following takes place shortly after the events in "Demons" and "Terra Prime", on board the Enterprise NX-01...
This ship was beautiful.
Such was the thought of forty-three-year-old Jonathan Archer as he ran a hand across the ship’s cool interior metal. The steel was hard and sturdy beneath his fingertips, and it made him smile a bit. For once, it was pleasing to be in this corridor, admiring the Enterprise – his ship – for what it was… Starfleet’s first Warp Five starship; the first to truly roam the galaxy. It was an explorer, and so was everyone on board. However, Archer knew they had done quite a lot more than just exploring the past four years.
The captain felt his smile falter at the thought. With a sigh, he removed his hand from the wall and gazed darkly at the floor. There had certainly been a number of incidents he would rather forget, such as the Cabal Suliban, the Xindi assault on Earth, and recently, Terra Prime. Archer had found most of those encounters to be much like the metal floor he was standing on: Cold, hard, and unfeeling. So many lives had been lost, and why? Because of xenophobia? Dreams of galactic conquest? He didn’t know, and frankly, didn’t want to.
And yet, some good had come out of these trials and tribulations. They had pulled the crew of this ship together. Every man and woman on the Enterprise had been tested at least once, and nine times out of ten, Archer knew they’d pulled out in once piece. The beauty of it, though, was that they had been through all this together. Without each other, well… He was pretty sure they would all be dead by now! After all, a captain needed a crew as much as the crew needed a captain, and needed each other.
He had a beautiful starship and, as far as he was concerned, the best crew in the galaxy. Jonathan Archer could ask for no more.
A nearby ‘blip’ registering in his ears jerked the captain out of his thoughts. Turning to the source of the noise, he slapped a palm against the button on the comm. “Archer here.”
“Captain, you’re needed on the bridge,” came the cool voice of his Vulcan first officer.
He sighed under his breath upon hearing T’pol. No rest for the weary, Archer thought. “On my way. Out,” he replied. Taking one last look around the passage, he turned on his heel and prepared to face yet another mission.
