I really like the way L.A. Graf writes hum and was wondering if I could do the same? Example {note, this is not from me, it's from L.A. Graf's "Ice Trap"}
Chekov rounded the last corner just as a lean, dark figure spun to meet him, the small device in it's hand swinging to center on his chest. Adrenaline seared through him at the sight of a potential weapon. Twisting aside, he threw his shoulder against the intruder's out stretched arm and pinned it tight against the wall. He blocked a wild swing at his head, and struck back at the same moment Aaron Kelly's voice yelped in panic. Chekov felt every muscle in his left arm twinge as he stopped his blow just short of a full extension. He knew even before Kelly hit the deck that he'd broken the auditor's nose, but hoped for both their sakes that he hadn't done anything worse. "Get up, Kelly."
In L.A. Graf's novels, Chekov's a Lieutenant and chief of security. Personally, I like the change and think it fits him well. If you guys don't like it, I'll be happy to play the original Chekov. Just thought I'd ask ;D

I'd advise you to have a chat with Reed regarding this. =) He's more.... in charge of that section.

I read a few books with him as security chief. A lot of the bridge crew missed him.

Yeah, I was thinking that might be an interesting angle. Having Sulu miss him at navigation, but Chekov saying that he's needed in security now. A little friendship strain, not to mention Pavel having to find his new security identity. Break apart from the ensign navigator role and into the lieutenant security role. Plus his friends having to respect his authority when it comes to off world missions. Remember, he's not an ensign anymore.
On another note; do you remember what author(s) those books were by?
